I have seen many people or say my students, when they came to me they don’t even know what is brownie and how is it different from cakes. Brownies are technically a bar cookie. It can be considered as a cross between the cake and the soft cookie in relation to texture.

Ingredients
- Chocolate – 200 gm.
- Butter – 100 gm.
- Sugar – 250 gm.
- Eggs – 4 no.
- Vanilla Essence – 5 gm.
- Refined flour – 60 gm.
- Cocoa powder – 60 gm.
Method
- Chop chocolate and place in a bowl. Cut butter in small cubes and place in chocolate bowl.
- Melt chopped chocolate, butter and sugar in a double boiler till everything melts.
- Remove the bowl from fire and add eggs one by one beating gently after each addition.
- Add vanilla essence and mix well.
- Add refined flour and cocoa powder and mix.
- Pour the batter in a prepared mould and bake at 190° c for 30-35 minutes in a pre-heated oven.
- Check the doneness with toothpick or knife.
- Slice in square or triangle pieces and serve with hot chocolate sauce and vanilla ice cream.
